Weingut Habersack is a small family winery located in Weiden am See, on the northeastern shore of Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland, Austria.

The Habersack family has been living and working with wine for multiple generations. Within the company, viticulture is not only seen as a profession but as a way of life where family, nature, craftsmanship, and tradition are closely intertwined.

The role of Emmerich Habersack

For many years, Emmerich Habersack played a significant role in the development of the winery.

He graduated in 1984 from the renowned viticultural school of Klosterneuburg and subsequently gained extensive practical knowledge and experience as a winemaker.

From business administration to viticulture

His youngest daughter, Karin Habersack, grew up among the vineyards, grapes, and operations of the family business. Yet, she initially chose a different path.

She studied business administration at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, spent a period in Copenhagen during her studies, and gained work experience in market research and quality management.

International experience

Additionally, Karin traveled to various wine regions around the world.

These trips broadened her interest in viticulture and introduced her to diverse wine styles, production methods, and wine cultures.

The fourth generation

Ultimately, Karin returned to her hometown and pursued professional training in viticulture, cellar techniques, oenology, and international wine trade.

On July 1, 2020, Karin took over responsibility for the family business as the fourth generation. Since then, she has combined her family's knowledge and traditions with new ideas, international experience, and a contemporary view of wine.

A true family business

Karin is not alone in this endeavor. Her parents, Sylvia and Emmerich, are still actively involved in the vineyards and the wine cellar.

Her partner Thomas also supports the winery with advice and practical work.
